The Centre stays open each year because local people volunteer to support the services we provide and to support the building and the management.
We are currently, in 2009 looking for help on building caretaking, finance, personnel, after school club volunteers, gardeners, grass cutters, admin, technical support, website and event support or organizers.
Could you?

Older People’s Lunch Group |
|
This group meets every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (term time only). We offer support, recreation and a low cost three course lunch (£4.50 including transport) to older people in the local community who may be experiencing mobility difficulties, and therefore may not be able to leave their homes to socialise and meet new people.
- Do you find it difficult to get out of the house?
- Do you know an older person who would benefit from this service?
- Please support your local lunch club and don’t let these vital services close

Adopt a Grandparent’ has been a huge success. Each child who comes to our after school club has had the opportunity to be matched up with one of the older people who attend one of our lunch clubs.
The matching began early in 2008, when they began writing letters to each other and sending birthday cards. Now we have had two intergenerational teas, where the children and older people meet together, eat together and play games. The event last summer was such a success that we had another one at Christmas.
Here’s what the older people had to say about it. (For the children’s views, please see the website – www.brislingtoncentre.org.uk)
“Thoroughly enjoyed it”, “I don’t get to see my grandchildren so it was wonderful”, “Great event, let’s do it again”.
